There really are no words to describe the level of fear and grief you feel when you learn you have cancer. I know because I've been there. Working as an oncology nurse, I discovered I had metastatic breast cancer back in 2013. While my diagnosis was shocking and life-changing, I realized my professional experience in cancer allowed me to feel empowered regarding my treatment.
